Why Nitrosomonas is a bacteria and Nitrobacter is a bacterium? What is the difference between bacteria and bacterium?

The words both refer to the tiny microscopic organisms that are found virtually everywhere around us. The only difference between the two is that the word ‘Bacterium’ is singular whereas the word ‘Bacteria’ is in the plural. So, Nitrobacter and nitrosomonas are bacteria in plural form and bacterium in singular form.
