Doubt by J V VISHNUSAAI DEV

Can you please explain the meaning of charge transfer spectra? As I have read that there will be transfer of electron from the oxygen atom to the metal atom during this phenomena. Then can't we call charge transfer spectra phenomenon as p-d transition?

charge-transfer spectra is a transition of electrons within the molecules.

Charge transfer spectra in highly ionic crystals correspond to electron transfer between neighboring atoms. They can be classified as donor or acceptor, depending upon whether the metal atom donates or accepts an electron. The essential differences between these two kinds of transitions are emphasized, and a simple criterion to establish which type is responsible for observed spectra are stated.
