(a) Reproduction and Child Health Care programme help in taking care of the following problems -
(i) Create awareness about uncontrolled population growth; Social evils like sex abuse; Sex
related crimes; Sexually transmitted diseases like STDs and AIDS.
(ii) Give proper information about reproductive organs, adolescence and related changes, safe and
hygienic sexual practices.
Child Health Care programmes help in educating about - care of pregnant mothers, post natal care, importance of breast feeding, equal opportunity for male and female child.
(b) Amniocentesis is a foetal sex determination test based on the chromosomal pattern in the
amniotic fluid surrounding the developing embryo. It is used to test any chromosomal abnor-
mality in the foetus. It is banned to legally check female foeticide.
