(c) Replication is energetically a very expensive process. Deoxyribonucleosides are added in the
form of Deoxyribonucleotide triphosphates. They have two functions :
(i) They act as substrates.
(ii) They provide energy for polymerisation reaction. The last two terminal phosphates in a
deoxynucleoside phosphate are high energy phosphates as in the case of ATP.
