How is DNA isolated in purified form from a bacterial cell?
1. The bacterial cells are treated with enzyme lysozyme, to break the cells open and release macro-molecules like DNA, RNA, proteins, polysaccharides and also lipids.
2. DNA is separated from other molecules by removing RNA by treating it with ribonuclease, proteins by treatment with protease and other molecules by appropriate treatments.
3. Chilled ethanol is added to precipitate out pure DNA.
