Explain the importance of (a) ori, (b) and (c) rop in the E.coli vector shown below:
(a) Ori-origin of replication: This is a sequence from where replication begins and any piece of DNA when linked to this sequence can be made to replicate within the host cells.
(b) - antibiotic resistance gene (ampicillin). It acts as a selectable marker which helps in identifying and eliminating non transformants and selectively permitting the growth of the transformants.
(c) rop-code for the proteins involved in replication of the plasmid.
