How can DNA segments separated by gel electrophoresis, be visualised and isolated?
(i) The separated DNA segments are strained with ethidium bromide.
(ii) Then they are exposed to UV radiation.
(iii) They appear as bright orange coloured bands.
(iv) The separated bands of DNA (on the gel) are cut from the agarose
gel and extracted from the gel piece and the process is called elution.
