Explain the process of protein synthesis from processed m-RNA
Process of protein synthesis from processed mRNA:
(i) For initiation , the ribosome binds to the mature mRNA at the start codon(AUG) that is recognised by the initiator tRNA.
(ii) During elongation phase, charged tRNA sequentially binds to the appropriate codon in mRNA with the anticodon present on tRNA. The ribosomes move from one codon to another along mRNA. Amino acids are added one after another, translated into polypeptide sequences dictated by DNA and represented by mRNA , i.e. translation.
(iii) During termination , the release factor binds to stop codon (UAA,UAG,UGA), terminating translation and releasing the complete polypeptide chain from the ribosome.
