Define the following terms:
(i) Adsorption: It is a surface phenomenon which ocurrs only at the
surface of the adsorbent.
(ii) Peptization: It is a process of converting a fresh presh precipitate
into colloidal particles by shaking it with the dispersion medium in the
presence of a small amount of a suitable electrolyte.
(iii) Sol: The colloids in which a solid is dispersed in the liquid.
or, In a colloidal sol, the dispersed phase is a solid and the
dispersion medium is a liquid.
