NEET Chemistry Surface Chemistry Questions Solved

Explain the following terms giving a suitable example of each:

(i) Aerosol      (ii) Emulsion          (iii) Micelle

(i) Aerosol: An aerosol is a colloid in which dispersed phase is a solid and

dispersion medium is a gas.

Example: Smoke, dust

(ii) Emulsion: It is a colloidal solution of two immiscible liquids of

which one is the dispersion medium while the other is the dispersed

phase (liquid-liquid)

(iii) Micelles: They are associated colloids showing colloidal behavoiur

at high concentration and strong electrolytes at low concentration.

Example: Soap, detergent.
