7.29 How can you prepare Cl2 from HCl and HCl from Cl2? Write the reactions only.
(i) Cl2 can be prepared from HCl by Deacon’s process.
4HCl + O2 → 2Cl2+ 2H2O
(ii) HCl can be prepared from Cl2 on treating it with water.
Cl2 + H2O → HCl (Hydrochloric acid) + HOCl (Hypochlorous acid)
