State a condition under which a bimolecular reaction is a kinetically first-order reaction.

The presence of one of the reactants in excess, as in such a condition, its concentration remains constant and the rate of such reaction depends upon the concentration of one reactant only and the reaction is known as pseudo-first-order reaction e.g, acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of ethyl acetate.

CH3COOC2H5 + H2O H+ CH3COOH + C2H2OH
Ethyl acetate                        Acetic acid     Ethyl alcohol
