Given below are two statements:

Assertion (A):	Greenhouse effect was observed in houses used to grow plants and these are made of green glass.
Reason (R):	Greenhouse name has been given because glasshouses are made of green glass.

1.	Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
2.	Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).
3.	(A) is true but (R) is false.
4.	(A) is false but (R) is true.

Hint: A greenhouse is a structure with walls and a roof made chiefly of transparent material, such as glass, in which plants requiring regulated climatic conditions are grown.

In cold countries, the sunlight required to grow plants is less. Hence, plants are kept in a house made of glass, placed in

such a manner, so that sunlight enters the greenhouse, heat up the soil and plants.

The warm soil and plants emit infrared radiations. Since glass is opaque to infrared radiation, it partly reflects and partly

absorbs these radiations.

Hence, the Assertion is true but the reason is false.
