Assertion : Adult human being is not perfect in digestion of milk.
Reason : With age, man produces little or no lactase in the intestinal juice.
The human being is the only mammal who ingests significant amount of lactose in milk. Curiously, many human adults can not digest milk, because with age they produce little or no lactose in the intestinal juice. In such persons, the lactose of milk remains undigested and is fermented in the intestine producing gases and acids. This results in flatulence, intestinal cramps and diarrhoea.
